The Orchestra of Southern Utah
Fall Recital Series 2016
The Orchestra of Southern Utah is excited to exhibit our talented musicians who are performing for in our fall recital series this year!
"We're called "The Red Hill Rangers" and we've been together for six years. I have been playing for over 50 years with other groups and solo so I always seem to have to have a backup band to play with me. I love to give other people a chance to be on stage and enjoy what I've enjoyed for such a long time. We're looking forward to playing September 6th and we're going to be ready. Bob Nolan is such a hero to me and he was a part of the beginning of the "Sons of the Pioneers" and their history has become a legacy of Western Music through the years," said Steve Downs.
The Washburn Family Bluegrass Band plays traditional, hard driving bluegrass. They have been performing for about one year. The boys all started on their instruments as early as they could hold them. Paul grew up playing in a family bluegrass band and wanted to carry on that experience when he had a family. Luckily, his family has enjoyed it. The boys especially have enjoyed being able to have some shows to exhibit their talents.
Nicole Ray will be playing Scarborough Fair, an English folk song, on piano.

Common
Ground is a
vocal/instrumental group which enjoys sharing popular and folk music. The
group consists of Jim Howells plus Des and Sara Penny. They are active
musicians in the community and have performed on the fall recitals for several
years as well as for Groovefest, Farmer's Market, and church events. They
have chosen two love songs for the first recital, "I'll Have to Say I Love
You in a Song" and the Irish tune "Star of County Down".

Village Voices is one of Southern Utah’s outstanding vocal
ensembles. Founded in 2011, the chamber
choir gathered to share their love for singing, especially in the realm of
choral music. The ensemble is dedicated
to exploring the coloring of acapella music from baroque to jazz. Based in Cedar City, director Danny Hansen
and his twelve singers are noted for their diverse repertoire and performing
excellence. In addition to a busy season
of concerts, including opening for The Piano Guys this summer, the choir
contributes many hours to the arts scene of Southern Utah.

Wow!! I am very happy to know about this event. Last year they had arranged such event at one of most popular seattle convention center. I really enjoyed there so I really wish they organize such event this year again at some lovely place.
