Rhythm of Life concert season!

Tickets Now On Sale!
You are invited to the Orchestra of Southern Utah’s 2015-2016 concert season, “Rhythm of Life.”  Kicking off our foot-tapping season on October 8, “Rhythm of the Drum” will spotlight the pulse of percussion and illustrate the intensity and drive it brings to music.  Canyon View High School Bands and Orchestra will be joining the OSU. Zhong-Hui Dai will guest conduct the Thunderer’s March by Sousa.
“Rhythm of Sibelius” on November 12, will celebrate the life and music of Jean Sibelius as we approach his 150th birthday in December.  Guest Artist Xin-Wen Fu will perform, and several of Sibelius’s most iconic pieces will be presented.
On December 13 and 14, the OSU will perform Handel’s Messiah with Jackie Riddle-Jackson as the newly appointed Chorale Director. This year’s performances will be particularly special as we look forward to and celebrate the 75th anniversary of Messiah in Cedar City.  As in past years, tickets will be provided free of charge by the generosity of our sponsors The State Bank of Southern Utah and The Leavitt Group.
On February 13, the “Aloha!” Children’s Jubilee will premiere a symphony by local composer Jacob Lee, and the concert will include Polynesian vocalists and dancers. Before and after the music, activities relating to science, art, and music will be made available.  It will be a perfect taste of the tropics for the entire family!
On February 25, “Rhythm of the Sea” will take us on a nautical adventure, reprising the pieces from the Jubilee and adding Rimsky Korsakov’s epic Scheherazade.
Concluding the season on April 21, “Rhythm of Dance” will sweep us through the years and around the world as we listen to dance tunes including a Shostakovich Waltz, a Bach Gavotte, and a Chinese Folk Dance. All concerts are held in the Heritage Center and begin at 7:30 in the evening (with the exception of the Jubilee which will begin at 2:00 in the afternoon). We look forward to seeing you there!
Season tickets are available through the Heritage Theater, Cedar Music, and Whittlesticks.
